fleep...

Fleep started DJ'ing at the young age of 14 in the rural countryside of Australia.  He was drawn to electronic music a friends older brother played Jean Michel Jarre's first album Oxygene.  One day he was given the chance to play on the Community Radio station at such an early age and then had a regular late night show playing anything from Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Can and other ambient electronic artists. With help from another older music collector at the radio station he shown other genres and other musical boundaries.

After moving from the farming area district to Sydney at the end of 1986 is when he discovered dance music by chance while walking past a record store playing electronic music with a strong backbeat.  Drawn in by it, started the quest of looking for records. Learning about mixing was done by his friend in Sydney DJ Nardo and was learning more and buying more.  With the boom of events in Sydney in the late 80's and early 90's, Fleep started to DJ at various bars and other venues in Sydney. During this time he started to import records from Eastern Bloc Records. With the same record buyer at the store selling the same records to other top DJ's in the UK,  the deeper electronic mood set right in. Expanding on the importing he started his own Vinyl import company independently selling to the DJ's in Sydney an eclectic mix of US and UK depp house. Around 1995, fleep retired from DJ'ing after being placed in a company as an Audio / Video Engineer.

Moving to Japan at the end of 1999 the addiction to music did not stop and began the cycle of buying more records once again.  Fleep has played in Tokyo at various clubs including Club Yellow, Loop, Womb and other places as well with his ex DJ partner Dejan who was instrumental in getting fleep playing live once again. These days, fleep still collects music from all over the place whether it is old or new and plays rarely these days live in Tokyo even after receiving many requests from Japanese friends and fans to get him to play live.

The fleep.com website which was set up some years ago now attracts over 60,000 people a year with around 10,000 people downloading the mixes and always waiting for new mixes to appear.  With a record collection of around 6000 ~ 7000 records spanning all eras of house, soul and disco, you can catch fleep live at dogglounge.com on Saturday Nights from 20:00.
